With Solar Lighting, Commercial is More Than Marketing Label

When buying solar lights to illuminate public areas such as walkways, parking areas, recreational facilities or storage area, you probably need fixtures a bit stronger and more durable than most people would chose for their homes.

Some lights are labelled “industrial,” “commercial” or “residential” based on the people marketing teams think will buy the products. (There is no technical definition of exactly what a “Commercial Solar Light” is and is not.)

It’s like a Food or Drink Labelled “Diet or Lite” by Ad People.  Is a beer lite in taste, alcohol, color or calories? Fat-free cookies sound healthy, but most contain far more calories because extra sugar or corn syrup is added to make them taste taste good. Don’t believe snappy catch phrases until you read the nutritional labels.

Commercial Solar Lights: A Great Solution for Property Managers

Some people think that solar lighting is largely broken into two types:

  • Solar lights for residential settings, and with lots more to choose from we wish we could say that all lights are great, but the fact is there more more junky “disposable” solar lighting than ever before.
  • Expensive solutions for commercial properties, such as big-ticket solar street lights or complex systems where solar panels power a system of lights that involve a power lines similar to electrical systems.
